SEOUL, South Korea – Samsung says Lee Kun-Hee, the battered chairman of Samsung Electronics, has died.
A Samsung statement said Lee died by his side on Sunday with his family members, including his son and de facto chief executive Lee Jae-yong.
Lee Kun-Hee was in the hospital for years and the younger Lee was in charge of corporate affairs.
It says, “All of us at Samsung will keep his memory and are grateful for the journey we shared with him.”
Lee Kun-Hee, a local company, had made Samsung the world’s leading innovator and industrial powerhouse.
